Monday 7th May, 2012 | The Narrabeens I’m sure the buzz around the place right now is all about today’s conditions – and spectacular sun rise – but Sunday delivered some pretty awesome conditions as well as the run of Huey goodness rolled on. I spent 3 hours shooting yesterday between 8-11am and divided my time shooting between North Narra and the Gardens which also gave me a good view down to Southy. Everywhere I looked it was pumping nicely with surfers emerging from the surf exhausted but stoked after their sessions. The shots are now posted and can be viewed here. Cheers, Doug There are currently over 7,000 surf photos in my galleries so the chances are pretty good that you've been shot by me. NEW SURF PHOTOS: Sun, Waves and a Friendly Breeze!
19th February 2012 The sunrise at Curly this morning was the perfect prelude to what turned out to be quite a decent early session. Sure the waves weren’t overhead but the sun was and there was a slight offshore breeze wafting through which was doing it’s best to burnish the lines and sets making their way in. This awesome episode of summer conditions put smiles on the dials of the sizeable crew scattered along the beach from mid to South Curly.

Surf Photos: Long Reef 630-800am
05th November 2011 The last time I shot any surf action was about a month ago which is way too long between drinks. Needless to say, I was quite excited to read the forecast for the weekend and set out early this morning frothing at the bit expecting to spend most of the morning taking shots.
More Surf Photos: Waves for the Labour Day Long Weekend!
03rd October 2011 As they say - 2 out of 3 ain't bad. And so it was for Labour Weekend 2011 in Sydney where the pre-weekend forecast called for rain, rain and more rain. What we got was waves, rainy blowout and waves respectively over the three days of our long overdue long weekend.

Surf Photos: Curly & Dee Why 0730-1000
13th August 2011 First shots for August posted! It's been awhile between snaps but Huey finally relented and sent some swell our way today. Started at Curly where it was lumpy, inconsistent and just a bit too full. However, there was a mass of punters out there making the most of it.
Lunch Breaks
26th July 2011 Having been overseas for the last week and a half, I jumped off the plane into a cab, unpacked and went straight to the beach to see if I had even a remote chance of shooting any remnants of the past weekend's epic swell.
Weekend of Juice: 10-11 July 2011
10th July 2011 What an awesome weekend! But I don't need to tell you that as I'm sure most of you were out there getting some for yourself.
Out and About for the Early
03rd April 2011 Just posted new pics from a quick tour around the traps for the early. Swell conditions were alright with the odd bomb set makng its way in. The only problem was direction - it tended to be too straight so those spots with a bit more tilt were the picks.
But what a fantastic day weather-wise - almost better than summer! ;0)
New Shots Posted Featuring...
27th March 2011 The Curl Curl Longboarders monthly comp.
It was a gray old morning and very uninspiring so much so that I almost packed it in even before I got to North Curly. Having thought that I figured that even with the rain I could shoot from the tunnel. As it turned out I didn't have to as the annoying spittles of rain stopped and I was able to set up in my favourite spot around the corner by the cliff. Conditions were tough but every now and then Huey delivered some nice bomb sets. And the sun even managed to break through for a few seconds! The boys managed to put on a good show which also featured our new Treasurer Mike Baird whose first order of business was to go have a surf with his mates. Go well. Doug
New Pics Posted - Dee Why Parts 1 and 2
26th March 2011 Was I overcompensating for not getting any during what was the best week of swell in a very, very long time by going out twice today? You bet I was!
There was swell but there was also a honking wind that messed up things a lot except at Dee Why Point which seemed to be the only southern corner unaffected by it. And there were huge sets every now and then which had the usual crew were throwing themselves at it with unabashed enthusiasm. All manner of craft was on it for the afternoon session as well including surf boards, knee boards, boogie boards, kites and a lone wind surfer who always seemed to look like he was being chased down by a horde of kite-surfers! Hope you got yourself some. Go well. Doug View more News here |
