More Surf Photos: Waves for the Labour Day Long Weekend!
03rd October 2011
As they say - 2 out of 3 ain't bad. And so it was for Labour Weekend 2011 in Sydney where the pre-weekend forecast called for rain, rain and more rain. What we got was waves, rainy blowout and waves respectively over the three days of our long overdue long weekend.
North Narra was the pick on Saturday where a small group of punters - and one female pro - were revelling in the south-east 3-4 ft swell which was serving up some tasty lefts and rights with relative consistency. I was there between 630-830am and managed to post about 180 shots from the session which you can view here - http://www.wozthatyou.com/portfolio226940.html.
Sunday I did the usual tour around the traps but this time a bit later due of course to the very welcome start of daylight savings. There wasn't alot happening around the place with Dee Why providing both the size - some bomb sets exceeding double overhead - plus the added advantage of being burnished clean by a favourable offshore early. I was there from about 830 through to 1130 concentrating on Dee Why Point for the whole time.
I decided to try something different today by shooting with my 85mm lens rather than my usual 400mm for half the session to give my surf photos a bit more of a contextual reference particularly when the bomb sets hit. I like hope you like this totally different perspective which for me is a bit of a departure from my usual approach.

Have yourself a great week.
Cheers,
