What an amazing afternoon's session at Curl Curl today. A forecasted energy lift arrived on time and combined with the offshore produced some excellent waves. Hope you had a chance to be out in it.

Ryan Callinan Wins VZ Trials, Possible Billabong ASP WJC Start Tomorrow
NORTH NARRABEEN, New South Wales/Australia (Saturday, January 9, 2010) – Ryan Callinan (AUS) has claimed the Von Zipper Trials, earning a berth into the prestigious Billabong ASP World Junior Championships fueled by Monster Energy, alongside Brent Savage (AUS) and Cody Thompson (USA).

The Von Zipper Trials whittled the 16-man field down to the final four this morning as the one-to-two foot (0.5 metre) peaks graced North Narrabeen. With time winding down in the hard-fought Final, Callinan netted the heat-winning wave on his last-ride, crowning him the VZ Trials Champ and securing a place in the Billabong ASP World Junior Championships.

Callinan will face fellow Australian Owen Wright (AUS) and Clay Marzo (HAW) in Round 1 of the main event.

The Billabong ASP World Junior Championships mirrors the competition format of the ASP World Tour and is considered the sport’s “crystal ball” for aspiring champions. In addition, a Final’s placing in the tournament affords the successful surfers an unrivalled seeding on the ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) that serves as a springboard to the ASP World Tour.

Event organizers will assess conditions tomorrow at 7am for a possible 8am start.

The Billabong ASP World Junior Championships fueled by Monster Energy will be web LIVE via www.billabongpro.com

The Early - 2.12.9
02nd December 2009 - 0 comments
Found myself at DY early this morning where there were very large wave trains rolling in. It was clean with a light offshore but a little too fat on the high tide so not many rides were made. Check it out later during the low.

Had a quick look at Curly but there's too much water moving about. So much in fact the waves were breaking ON the clubhouse at Curly!

Pics from this morning and last night at Queeny will be posted tonight.

Go well!

Cheers,
Doug
Swell's Arrived!
01st December 2009 - 0 comments
The swell's here for sure! Big, messy and sucky on the exposed breaks so protected spots and corners away from the wind are the go for today. It's every inch of 5-7 foot and coming at us at 11 seconds so it's definitely on. Happy 1st day of Summer!!!

Weekend Wrap - 29.11.9
29th November 2009 - 0 comments
I spent a few hours over the weekend at Curly most of them on Sunday watching the Jim Beam Surftag Womens Final. In between waves I managed to catch Matt Bemrose and a few others making the most of the nicely burnished smallish offshore conditions.

Pics now posted.

And it's looking very interesting for the first part of the week. Let's hope the surface conditions stay decent so we can all enjoy the new swell delivery from Huey.

Go well.

Cheers,
Doug
Free Images Now Available - Right Click and Save!
28th November 2009 - 0 comments
Go ahead...make your day - right-click save has been re-activated! Who am I to deny you access to the shots featured on wozthatyou.com? So, I've unclenched and in the spirit of the giving season, please click away as much as you can handle.

A couple of words of advice:

* These are low-res images so keep your expectations er, low.
* They are also logo-ised.
* Be realistic as to how you want to use them - they'll work well as screen
savers on your PCs, lappies and Imacs as well as all your mobile devices.
They will also work well on Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, flickr etc.
* As a screen saver: probably best to NOT Stretch the image but set on Centre
or Tile only.
* They probably won't make it past a 4x6 inch print if you feel so inclined.

If you want a high-res image then you could always buy it!

Enjoy!

Cheers,
Doug
News Re-Launched! Read All About It...
28th November 2009 - 0 comments
I've, in a fit of heat-stroke induced activity, decided that I should add a little bit extra to the site so that each time you visit you can hopefully take something of value away with you.

wozthatyou.com news will feature anything from the latest conditions to where I've been shooting to my daily musings and any announcements and news that you may find interesting and relevant.

Being the laid-back and lazy wannabe journo that someday I might be, the news will most likely just be a re-hash of my Tweets and Facebook updates but hey it's a start isn't it!

And I'll try to keep it short and sweet so that you don't nod off while readizzzzzzzz...snore...zzzzzzzzz...snarfle...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...groffle...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Enjoy!
